URL goals and page filters

Use paths to distinguish the pages where a goal should be counted.

Reviewed: 25.10.2026 · Based on current product behavior

Step by step

  1. For URL goals start with a path such as /thank-you. Use the live URL tester and suggested pattern chips in the goal form.
  2. * matches a non-empty part of one path segment; ** can cover nested paths. /products/* targets one product segment, while /catalog/** covers deeper paths. :param and {id} stand for a segment.
  3. Click goals can also have a page filter. Do not assume the experiment page prefix field uses every goal wildcard feature.
Practical example

Webflow CMS: filter a shared CTA to /case-studies/* and test two different slugs. Tilda: /thank-you should match your success page, but not the page containing the form.

How to verify

Try a matching URL, a nearby non-matching URL, nested paths and a trailing slash. Use the UI tester as the authority for the saved goal pattern; do not include personal data in URLs.
